1995 Discovery Cranks, non-start: Solved!
The 1994-1995 Discovery is unique. (Great fuel pressure, new distributor + coil, ALL that stuff done.) Crank like crazy, no signal to injectors. Thanks to Paul Grant for detailed post on his 1995 problems: anti-theft immobilizer issues. Did the EKA sequence and it started immediately. IF you have only a key, the Owners Manual states that if you simply lock the car, the security system is turned on. In order to NOT engage the alarm+security, one must hold the key in the lock position for 5+ seconds. If you simply lock the car w/ security, then unlock and try to start, it may crank like crazy but signal to injectors is interrupted by the security system. EKA sequence then turns off the security system. If little red light below radio is flashing, the security system is still ON.
The generic code worked for me and has worked for several others according to some other posts. In some locations and w/ different yrs, each truck may have a specific code? I wrote the sequence down and put it in w/ my owners manual etc.! The most useful was If + when locking the car (say while shopping) and you are using a key (not the fob) and do NOT want to engage the security system, hold the key in locking position for 5+ seconds. With some trucks, you endure the alarm until you can open the bonnet and disconnect the battery. Turn key to position 2 BEFORE you reconnect battery-- this is s'posed to reset system. Haven't tried it myself tho!!

So you're saying: Lock the vehicle with a key per normal, but leave the key in the lock cylinder for 5+ seconds? Does the position of the key need to be retained in the same (lock) position ...or as long as it's in the cylinder for 5+? Is there any feedback or light flashing to tell you it's not gone into the security mode?
Is that all there is to it? I've never had a fob either. Probably should get one ...but just never needed one.

Not sure what works in what year! From what I gather from my 1995 owner's manual, Hold the key in the locking position (LHD that would be twisting counterclockwise) for 5+ seconds, then back to vertical and remove. If you have an owner's manual, give it a careful read. I think one might experiment w/ this while in your driveway! The quick lock and go appears to set the security system in my '95. Am still trying to get a grip on this whole thing--the EKA system apparently does not apply to my North American 1995-- probably does for you?
