Default 1995 Discovery diff. Lock issue

Is it easy to tell if you shift into diff lock?? Do you have to shift into neutral to engage locker??

You do not need to be in neutral to lock/unlock the CDL. You are supposed to be able to lock it by moving the short shifter toward the driver's seat at ay speed regardless of whether the T/C is in HIGH or LOW as long as wheels are not spinning freely.

Click on the link in my signature for lots of pics of the CDL teardown. There is a little light on the dash that should come on when locked. It looks like 4 wheels on two axles.

Do you or any one else have pics of what the shifter looks like engaged in 4H Locked. I'm trying to see how far over the shifter moves and how to move it. Is it literally just pull to the left?? Does a light come on??

I still can't figure out how far to the left the shifter moves to engage the differential lock. Pictures would be very helpful as well as description

to answer your question it moves to the left the same amount as it normally sits to the right, and the light comes on. now read your owners manual. if you don't have one google "land rover rave manual" and download it. it is a PDF format shop manual which includes the owners manual. read it all but the using your transfer case section will help you understand the all time four wheel drive system and the cdl.

If you cant drive with the shifter moved into the position you think it should be in then you did not move it far enough.

Thank you very much. I'll try to get it to shift in to locked diff. Right now all I can do is normal high neutral and normal low.
