The driver's side door was frozen up the other morning and my son tried to open the door but the lock broke and the key just moves freely side to side in the door. What is the fix for this? thanks

 

There is a black plastic or nylon egg shaped washer that most likely broke. As the washer turns it engages other parts and activates the lock. After being laughed out of the lock smith shop, I found a complete door latch assembly and robbed the part. If you go that route take pictures as you disassemble the lock. The Rave Manuel helps but does not go into detail. Take your time and don't get flustered.. pay close attention to how it all fits back together. Took me a couple hours to figure it out.. As the smart *** lick smith said you'll figure it out as you take it apart... good luck.
