Default 1998 Discovery Cruise Control not working

The activator switch on the console does turn orange when i press it in, but, I then try to push "set" and nothing happens. Am I pushing the stupid button wrong or something? it pushed towards me... I looked to see if maybe it was the fuse, but the fuse for the cruise is also the fuse for other items that work just fine.

any thoughts are appreciated.

Than you.

Todd

Todd, the system runs off of an independent vacuum/hose system. It runs from the front drivers side of the engine compartment to the throttle, the ****ch on the steering column and a brake petal switch.

If there is a leak anywhere in there, i wont work. The vacuum is what holds the throttle, the steering column switch lets you engage it and the brake switch disengages. Also, if the vacuum pump is not providing suction, the system wont work even if all of the hoses are hooked up properly.

ok, so I thought i had it, but after I replaced the cracked line it still does not work. I wonder if its the pump itself?

any thoughts?

You have to 'push' set from the backside...or 'pull' towards the driver. At least that's how mine works on a 94 D1.

What a retarded idea of a stand alone vacuum pump. The engine already makes vacuum, why introduce a new failure point?
