Default 1998 Discovery issues

I have a 1998 D1 that I purchased with blown head gaskets. This has been remedied. However, when I restarted it, I was having fuel problems. Pulled the pump to discover that the po had substituted a non aev pump. This has been replaced with an aev unit. Now the truck runs waaaay rich with the aev(3 prong) plug hooked up. If I remove it, it runs better, but still popping back through plenum when accelerating. As for driving, if you pump the gas it eventually gets going, seems to have certain spots it is 'happy' in. It idles high, 1700+rpm. I am getting p1316, p1447,p1191,p0300. I have replaced the purge valve, but the 1447 did not clear. I find it unusual that the connect/disconnect of the 3 prong plug has such an impact on the running. As stated, when it is plugged in, it immediately begins loading up. Any ideas guys? I am about ready to let it run rich and toss a match...Come on Savannah Buzz, help out a displaced Atlanta boy up in Maine...

sounds like a crank sensor,
bad plug or wires, vacuum leak or sensors left unplugged could be a lot of things

check the firing order make sure the wires were put back correct

did someone reputable do the head job?

looking at the engine on the right at the back of the intake there is a small vacuum diaphragm with a short air hose that plugs into the intake make sure that is good

also look for vacuum leaks they could be the cause of the high idle

I was the not so reputable wrench puller on the heads. I bought this as non op. It ran ok prior with the exception of the oil milkshake. I will double check everything, but if the po short cutted on the pump, maybe elsewhere as well. I should mention, that after the fuel pump replacement it ran great, until it warmed up and went into closed loop operation...Since then its' been the 3 stooges...I have double checked it. As stated, it ran ok prior to the heads, but in thinking back, it hesitated and bucked as it dies now, just in a different manner. The problem really developed after the 'correct' aev pump was replaced....
