Default idiot here,,,,,

Ok, I must be an Idiot or something, I have got new magnecore 8mm wires for my 1999 rover disco 1, now before I changed them it ran, but now it sounds like it is missing, I just got the wiring diagram a thread or two ago tried it and no go, just misses sputters and dies, i have followed the diagram 4 times now to no avail, i origionally followed each wire as i pulled it and thought that was my issue that i may have crossed a wire or something but this has me stumped, fuel pressure is great just replaced pump, btw plugs are new as well ngk's the plugs when i pull them are wet that should also tell me it is missing as it is not ignighting the fuel, i checked the spark at each end of the wire with a spark plug all were sparking. is there something I am missing here ? please help wife wants her car back, thanks guys,,,,,,,,

Pretty simple. The cylinders are numbered 1-3-5-7 on the drivers side from front to rear, an 2-4-6-8 on the passenger side front to rear. The bracket the coils mount to has a stamped number in front of each coil tower for the cylinder that wire goes to. If you connect all the dots you should be good.

Are you sure you didn't crack any plugs when you put them in?

are you sure the ends are snapped onto the plugs? and the other ends are pushed into the coils?

defective wire? missing the metal clip at one end?

try to pull one at a time see which makes no difference

is it a miss or are you back firing out the intake or something?

don't be fixated on the wires you might not realize a sensor or hose got accidentally unplugged

did all the plugs have the little tip thing screwed on tight?

Agree with unplug one at a time, and you can look at it in total darkness for arcs.

That little short rubber hose from intake manifold to fuel pressure regulator on driver's side rear would be one to check.

ok i have pulled spark plug wires and did not notice a real difference from one cyl to another, checked the hose to the fuel pressure reg, and others that i can see, as well as any wiring , theis has got me stumped, was running before i changed the wires now real rough and rich of course due to the missfire, has thrown no codes as im sure it has not ran long enough, but the smell of unburnt fuel, yea, ugh, would a crankshaft sensor be the culprit? just go out like that? so frustrating.

crankshaft position sensor would kill spark.

ok, update here, still have the missfire, no codes thrown yet so im not sure how many are missing, however it has sat for a few days and when i started it it started right up and idled a little high about 1000 and was missing, better than before as it would not stay idling, now i noticed my passanger side cyl bank is alot hotter than the driver side and unplugging the plug wires from passanger side would make the rover die ( one at a time) but un plugging the drivers side i really did not notice a difference in the running, im thinking it is a drivers side that is the issue, what could be going on here?

do you have a check engine light on and any codes that it represents?
