Another set back…
can anyone tell what I need to know about the two small fans behind the grille, at what temp should they come on? Could that be the reason the red light at the top left comes on?

 

fans should come on when it gets too hot, say around 235 or so, but they also should come on when the A/C is turned on max. (if the compressor comes on)

 

Thank you so much! Guess I will have to find some info on troubleshooting that issue. Hopefully it’s fixable and that solves the dashboard warning light as well.

 

Hopefully you have downloaded the RAVE manuals, especially the electrical one.tough to read the first few times unless you are used to European schematics, but the information is in there. It might help to use the 1998 manuals as the 1999 manuals tend to jump into the Discovery 2 series. (gets confusing since the SD was only around for 1/2 year, then it became a D2)

Take a good look at the relays on the pass side footwell (in front of the door) and the fuses.
