Default 300 tdi / v8 lpg

Hi chaps, I'm currently looking to buy a mid to late 90's disco. I've had a play in a friends tdi. I've not drove a v8 version to compare but the v8 attraction makes it an option.

My question is how do they compare pro's and cons but also I note a lot of v8's with LPG conversions. Does the conversion affect performance or offroad capability with the underslung tank?

Cheers, Ad

I don't know about disco's in specific, but lpg conversions usually get a LITTLE less mpg. Off road performance is good, many people say a carb'd gas engine improves with an lpg conversion in relation to fuel delivery.

But if you're not too concerned with horsepower, go diesel.

LPG generally gets worse fuel economy and less power in colder climates and higher elevations.

The V8 is thirsty, not as quick as you would think but very reliable.
LPG conversion would be nice as you can run both petrol and LPG but as stated you will loose even more MPG with the LPG.
Depending on where the tank is located it could really hinder off road ground clearance.
