I cannot for the life of me find a answer for my area of our total snowfall so far this year or a map like the Denver one.

 

Does CO look like this? Worse? Less? What man!! Clue me in! Dont hold out!
I have never been and I really really want to go and check it out.

I think the biggest difference is whether it is wet and heavy like we usually get here or just dry powder which is more prevalent around Denver i think. I lived there for a couple of years in the early 80's. We had one big blizzard where we were snowed in for a week straight with over 6 feet of snowfalling in less than 48 hours right at Christmas time.

 

It depends where in Colordo. Denver is normally good whether but when it does snow there could be a few feet, but most of the time it's sunny. In the mountains there is always fresh snow.

 

That sounds awesome Danny, I'm jealous.

 

I can't believe you've never been to Colorado, Spike. You would love it, I'm sure. I would go much more often if there wasn't the great grass ocean in between here and there.

 

CO is on my "to do" list.

 

Nice to hear some good news about your Disc, there is so much doom and gloom on this forum.

I have a 98 Disco and it is my primary car, some small issues but quite fixable and is an great fun.

 

I've driven through parts of CO where they piled the snow in banks on the side of the road, maybe 12-15 feet high. Then the snow started collapsing back into the road, so they bring a machine along that cuts back the snow banks to a square edge, basically an 8 to 10' high wall of snow on each side. It's rare to see it that high, and it's only on mountain passes and such, but they do get snow like that every now and then.

Come to think of it we have a fair amount in Utah and Idaho as well, I've had as much as 5' in my front yard in Utah once, and 3' on several occasions, and that's in the valley. On big snow years we would sometimes sled off the roof! Where I'm at now in Idaho it's usually only 1-2 feet total in the non-drifted areas at any given time, but as I type I have several 6' snow drifts scattered throughout my yard. And we're getting a couple more inches tonight.

 

I was raised in Green Bay and we averaged 120 inches a year, and i IS a blast. 20 years ago we would just buy $500 late 70's Nova's and put 1000lbs of sandbags in the rear to keep traction.

Now that I have the Rover though I wish I could go back.

We have had some decent storms here in the last 2 to 3 years, up to 36 Inches over 3 days - YES - 3 FEET of the white happiness.

Had a blast with the Rover, and actually drove for our local hospital, getting nurses to and from work, picking up people for emergency room visits etc...

As Spike and others will attest, it is 90% about knowing HOW to drive in it and 10% about the vehicle.

I drove an Intrepid through 15 inches of snow past Explorers, Expeditions and Blazers and went back and drove them out.

Enjoy Spence - it IS a blast, just leave room to STOP. That is typically the part people forget!
