Is there a way to adjust the reverse light switch on a R380 in a 200tdi D1? This is an Ashcroft rebuilt/upgraded R380 that worked great at first. Now for the reverse lights to work I have to push the lever over hard right. I searched but only found how to test for a bad switch or how to replace it.

 

I struggled with this issue for a few years after a new Ashcroft R380. I found no adjustment points on the switch (except if it is too far in one could add spacers). It turns out I needed another switch type. The part number that was not working was AMR3918 and the part that worked was CDU51L. CDU51L is slightly longer. I had to splice a new connector in though. Now it works great and reverse lights come on in R with no added pressure.

FYI getting the switch out and new one in is a real bear of a job. Proper way is to take out the center console. I was able to do using a long 3/4 swivel head crescent and about 1000 choice words.
