Default 95 D1 skid plate

I have a 95 D1 with the RTE slimline bumper. I saw a FB post for an aluminum front skid plate and wondered if anyone knows who might have fabricated this piece and how well it might work with my setup along with a 2" RTE lift. Thanks.

That's a genuine skid I believe. Its going to hang pretty low, kind of defeating the point of your slimline bumper. Forget the skid and beef up your steering rods.

Probably a D2 bumper fitted to a D1. D2 bumpers only have provisions for 4 bolts. D1's utilize 6 bolts.

Default skid plate

Thanks Fish. I told the seller last night I would have to pass on it. Looking at how RTE now does their front skid is a pretty simple attachment to keep it as close to the frame as possible. It's almost a trim piece the way it fills in the void. I agree it will just end up being a chunk that gets hit because its low and there. I did check and the bumper does have the 6 bolt mount. It's always interesting how things are not as robust when they make it for the D2. I'm happy I got a D1, with a professionally rebuilt and upgraded motor, when it came time to sell the D110. which my family could no longer comfortably ride in.

Hmm....Well that base bolt seems to be part of it some how as well, I'm designing some brackets myself right now, but they go much further back on the horn and will have a total of 8 bolt connections.

Some D1 bumpers use the hole under the body mount for the 3rd mount. Others use a vertical bolt as shown for the 3rd mount. Both help to keep the bumper from rotating down and damaging the front fenders.

Hmm, well thank you for that Mr. Fish, I didn't look at any mounts prior to starting to toy with this, that would be cheating...

Looks like the horns on the 1 and 2 are the same if not very similar, is that an accurate statement? Yet another aspect I didn't look into as what I'm creating may just be a 'one off'..
