Ok, so here goes.

A little while ago, My 95 started acting up on the way to work, trying to stall at traffic lights, sometimes she'd stall, but, would alway start back up. Rough taking off from the traffic light or stop sign, misfires etc.

So, finally it just kinda stopped running, would start, run for a minute or two until sputtering out and stalling. let her sit a few minutes, she'd do the same thing, right after she started up, fuel pressure was fine, then when she'd start sputtering, less than 5 psi at the rail.

New fuel pump, filter, o-ring on the regulator (was misting fuel from there), new coolant temp sensor for the EFI, found a crack in the line for the IACV, did a temporary patch on that.

She started right up, let her idle for about ten minutes, she revved up, a bit rough at the low end, just off of idle, drove her about a mile, a bit rough from the traffic lights, but, made it home, shut her down and started right back up. pulled her into her parking spot, rough idle then stall.

Unplugged the IACV, started her, ran at 3k rpm, smooth as silk, plugged the IACV back in, slowly came down to 1k, then to 975, then to 1200, then to 950 etc. until she stalled, now she won't restart.

Is the IACV serviceable on the 95?

I need to order a new IACV hose.

What am I missing? it's gotta be something stupid.

I don't often ask for help, but, I'm asking for help.

Any ideas folks?

I have a 96 and I cleaned mine carefully with some carb cleaner.I would clean the throttle
body also.

 

I'll pull it in the next day or so and clean it.

 

Try this first, hold your foot on the throttle, keep it around 1,000 rpm, runs fine as long as its at that rpm or higher right?
Dirty or bad IACV.
Clean it like already said, clean the port it goes into also.
DO NOT turn the plunger when cleaning, use a old tooth brush to scrub it if it is to dirty.

 

when she's around 1000 rpm the "idle" keeps jumping around. not really able to hold it at 1k

 

While you have it apart you can also clean with same carb cleaner the bore the IACV fits into, the throttle body butterfly valve, and the port the PCV hose plugs into from driver side valve cover to throttle body (mine had to be cleaned out with a Q-tip, thick gunk). Look for more vac leaks as well. The IACV is a computer controlled vac leak, and it does not like to compete with "un-metered" air.

 

Does not need to be exactly 1000rpm, just higher than the highest idle speed its currently doing.

 

The "Zone" has an IACV in stock right near work for $45.99, is it even worth cleaning an 18 year old one with 182,XXX on it?

If you dont have $50 clean yours, if you do, buy it and clean the port it seats into.

 

new one is on it's way.
