Default 95 v8i/auto t-case seized

Howdy! I've got a 95 D1 with a sized t-case and possibly some transmission problems after having to tow it off the highway when the alternator went out.... Typical
So, It's's been stuck in 4x4high for god knows how long and when my buddy went to drag me to a safer spot I couldn't get it out of park. It skidded for a min, but then I herd a deep pop and the transfer case went into neutral while the gear selector was still in park and the wheels spun free. Now I got it to shift out of park and into neutral on the gear selector just fine but I can't get the transfer case into 4x4 high or low or into diff lock. Took the console out and drilled out the rivets to access all the linkage which all looks fine and dandy. The CDL linkage works fine where the handle is if I disconnect it from the t-case. The problem seems to be deeper and I don't want to start pulling everything apart and drop the t-case if there is an easier solution.
Also when I pulled the access panel off under the console to get on top of everything. I noticed a cable with a round end and a hole thru the middle. And on top of my high/low Cross shaft housing there is a larger bolt hole in which the bolt was missing. I can't seem to find what either the cable or the bolt hole is for. Maybe that's my issue or it's just a useless sensor. Any help would be great on both issues. Thanks!!

Thank you! That's helps quite a bit. I still can't figure what that black wire/cable is that's bolted on top of the hi/low selector cover.

D1's came with an LT230 in all of their years, no other options.

Are you sure it's a wire versus a tube? The two thoughts I had (not having messed with this area of my t-case [knock on wood]) were some form of ground wire someone added (if it's a wire), or a case vent tube (if it's a hose/tube).
