Default '96 Disco 1 and '99 Disco 2 same engine?

Would a '96 Disco 1 and a '99 Disco 2 have the same 4L engine? I wrecked my '99 and have found a '96 Disco 1 with a good body and interior but the motor needs some work. I'm wondering how interchangeable parts are, if I could pull parts or even the whole motor from mine to use on the '96?

Thanks

Yes but no. There are obvious differences most notably the intake and plenum and sensor locations are another gotcha, close but no cigar. 14CUX/GEMS motors and Bosch motors really need to stay within their families.
