Hey fellow rovers.

Im getting the check engine light reading P-0300 and P1316. Cleared, came back 500 miles later (week). Off for a few days, came back, off for a day and back again with an intermittent starting idle issue.

I use only 91 octane fuel from high quality stations and use lucas fuel treatment every 1500 miles.

1 in every 10 starts after sitting for 10min-1hr (close to full operating temp but not full operating temp) i get an erratic variable idle after starting the engine. In park the RPM is going from 250-1000rpm in 1 second intervals. After 30 seconds of what feels like misfiring it idles as usual, just below 1k. This idle issue does not return after the regular idle corrects itself while, driving, red lights, parking, ect.

I understand that p-0300 is likely to be resolved by replacing plugs/wires with high quality plugs and wires or in addition to replacing plugs/wires theres a bad coil that needs replacing.

P-1316 is see can also relate to coils, plugs, and wires but could be valve(s) sticking or issues with the cats.

first, i will start by replacing plugs/wires and testing coil function.
I would like to nip the p1316 code in the bud by first doing some kind of valve cleaning treatment.

I ask please for Any part recommendations for the plugs/wires
and a valve treatment method? Or any advice if i'm not starting out on the correct diagnostic track.

your codes are all "tune up" related p0300 random misfires, p1316 excessive emissions .

start with the 60,000 mi service in the "sticky" section....that should take care of 'em as well as prevent others from cropping up...
