Default 96 fix over heating, only high idle left...

This is the truck I just finished the new head gaskets on. After doing them I had a serious over heating issue. Tried everything I could think of to fix it, Replaced the radiator (had one) replaced the 2 electric fans, replaced the fan clutch, replaced thermostat finally tore the engine down again and check to see if a mistake had been made with the HG job... nope... even replaced the injectors.. Got a laser temp and found the left side headers where heating up to 800deg... swapped the drivers front o2 sensor with the rear and fixed.

Sigh.

Truck still wants to run at a high idle. About 1500. I guess it's time to replace the IACS (spelling?)

Did it run high idle before the hg? Check all vacume to include Plenum mate surface, pcv hoses, clean iacv, if all else fails go to an Indy shop have computer values reset, I had to replace my ecm to fix it

Ya, It had High idle before the HG. I think I'm just going to go ahead and order a new IVC for it. Found an after market for 40 bucks.. Auto Parts Warehouse - Shopping Cart

Unrelated but one thing I did notice when doing this HG job was I could still see all the factory cross hatching on the cylinders! @ 198k that was pretty impressive. Plan on getting another 100k out of this truck now.
