Testing a voltage source of any kind with just a meter does not always tell everything, if there is no load involved. Another idea would be to have alternator tested at another auto parts shop (even though Auto Zone will eventually be involved on warranty work). Sometimes parts stores have test equipment that is too complicated for the newbie employees.

Where do you recommend I take the alternator to in order to get tested?

If you put your location in the space provided and add vehicle data in your signature, it helps others know mre in order to offer better suggestions.

Is there a small old auto electric shop in your area. That would be a good thing to find out. They may be able to do a good rebuild.

What I am suggesting is that you have it tested at another parts store that does free testing. That way, when you take it back where you bought it you already have a second opinion. I had to replace my reman alternator from Auto Zone twice - so far.. You have a warranty, make them live up to it.

Just an FYI I replaced the alternator with a World Wide Series from Advance auto and it worked. After I replaced the alternator the tach would still drop out so I replaced the belt and everything works amazing.. Thanks for all the help guys!!!
