Default 97 disco diff engagement mod.?

I am curious if anyone has come up with a good system to engage the diff lock that is simpler and more effective for the series 1 disco thanks ,even if it means drilling a hole in the floor tunnel.

What sort of handicap do you have that makes it difficult to move the lever forward, left and back or forward, left and forward? Knowing that would allow offering a better alternative that meets your needs.

They tend to get stiff from under-use, if that's what you're talking about.

Well, if that's what the issue is then the simple and effective method is to do it the normal way periodically.

Just fix the linkage.
I do have a friend that has a D2. He drilled a hole through the trans tunnel on the passenger side. He ran some sort of connecting rod through there to engage the diff lock. It's actually a pretty clean and discreet set up.

I am going to drill a hole in the tunnel and attach a linkage to the diff lever , so I just give it a tug and it is engaged it is so simple I refuse to repair something that was designed to fail ,unless you are driving your rig through oil baths weekly, I live in the rust bowl of the world Honda actually has a testing facility here to see how they can improve there rustproofing, also I do not mind fixing something once but that is it ,not to mention there is only one way to get at the lingage to properly lub it,thanks for the help ,I got her fixed now and off I go to the woods.

There is a really easy way to lube it, crawl under the truck with your favorite spray lubricant, have a friend wiggle the CDL lever, watch to see what moves and spray the hell out of it.
The CDL is a use it or loose it type of thing.
Also if the gear oil is cold and thick you cant move the CDL then either.
I also live in the rust belt, GM, Ford and Chrysler all do most of their short and long term testing here, so I am no stranger to what you speak of.
I have no problems with my CDL lever, but then I use it once a month to keep it working properly.
I do it in the driveway, trans in neutral, move the CDL to all positions, engine is even off, takes 5min.
