97 disco tdi

I have a chance to buy a 97 disco 300 tdi North American spec
I don't know anything about Diesel engines just that you get awesome mileage

my question is what should be I concerned about the 300 tdi ?
Any issues with them ??
is it worth buying one of these just mainly for the gas mileage ??

Better to ask in the D1 section. The 300 tdi is pretty solid though

Correction found out it started as a v8 but converted to diesel

Great motor, little harder to bleed coolant loop than a 200.

Mileage is great, you should hit mid twenties to thirty mpg

Change the oil and don't overheat it and it will do very well.

Its a great thing if the conversion is well done. Its a horrible idea if the conversion is poorly done. There are LOTS of little bitty parts all over the truck that are diesel specific, and its a hard thing to do properly.
