Check the blue and red wiring from the BCM, module next to ECU. Go towards the fuse panel. Mice like these wires.

Before I make a new thread, mine issue is similar, but my 4.0 '99 D1 won't turn over unless brake is pressed, starter just clicks unless pressed brake, I was told I've lost a ground somewhere and pressing brake creates ground. So I kept diagnosing after that and found I have no spark while turning over and the truck won't talk to code reader.

Fuses all check out, any ideas where to start?

Personally I think I’d try to figure out why it won’t turn over (without brake applied). Maybe the fault is common to your no spark issue?

Yeah they are definitely related, I just don't know what it could be. That and the truck won't communicate with a code reader.

so I ended up bringing it to a shop since I didn't really have much free time to mess with it. after a few hours of messing around they got it running again but didn't really have a solid answer for what was wrong in the first place. Car seems to be running really rough now though and im not sure why. gonna poke around when its less cold out and see if I can figure out what is up
