98 Disco Blowing A/C fuse
My A/c wasn't cooling and I saw that the compressor is not running. Found the fuse, in the engine compartment, blown. Replaced it and a/c ran a few seconds and blew the fuse again. I strapped out the fuse (jumped it) and the a/c works, compressor runs and cools, but the strap got really hot so I immediately removed it. Disconnecting the wire harness at the compressor with a new fuse, it does not blow, of course no compressor. I can turn the compressor with my hand, not sure how free it should move, but it's not tight or sticking. I put a gauge on the low pressure connector and it reads a little high (in the red) but maybe that's normal if the compressor isn't running. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. Original compressor near 230k.

The only electrical item on the compressor is the clutch which is a series of coils used to engage/disengage the clutch disc to friction material. Fuse 3 is the 30A fuse you keep popping and that's the clutch. Replace the entire clutch unit, you got your monies worth out of it near 230k. You won't loose your charge replacing the clutch. When you get that replaced then see where the suction pressure is at while running.

Clutch Issue
+1 on the clutch.
Clutch coil resistance likely high. Replacement coils are on eBay for about $40 and kit with coil, plate and pulley bearing for under $100. Recommend going with just coil unless you find a clutch assembly with pulley. I had my pulley off the other day for repacking grease and removing old bearing could prove difficult without proper puller.
Procedure for R&R of clutch not in Workshop Manual but normally it's fairly easy and straight forward.
Source available for entire clutch assembly with pulley?

Fuse
Good question/catch. Quick look at ETM & OM, indicates fan is off same fuse. You may want to take connector off of fans, reconnect clutch and try with new fuse for further troubleshooting prior to shotgunning clutch parts. If you have a meter available you could check clutch coil resistance.

guess what, I ran the Disc a few minutes with a/c on, but clutch disconnected, only one fan running, then it stopped, then started, did that a few times then stopped. The other fan never did anything, even when I flipped the blades with a screwdriver. So after the other one that did run oft and on stopped, I checked the fuse, blown. I have the fans out now, what a fiasco, poor engineering LOL, anyway, one fan that never ran, is very sticky and has a spot that you have to get an extra turn to spin it a round. hmmmmm, think I will try the a/c, with the clutch back on and see what happens. Now I need to find 2 fan motors.
Well, I'm searching for these things and only can find the whole assembly. I did read it the same as some Honda's and Toyota's. My number reads Denso 065000-2321 Made in Japan. A few other numbers 12V but can not read the other two numbers on either fan.
I tried the a/c without the fans connected, it seems to do good, cools. Did not drive it, parked and idle for about 5 minutes. Didi not want to let it get hot.

I finally got 2 new fan motors. They're TYC 630919 instead of the Denso. It's the same bolt /screw pattern. Only thing I have to do is cut the plugs off and splice into my old plug connectors. First I want to make sure they work, using alligator clips. These were listed under 2005 Honda. $26.55 each plus $11 shipping from California.
I'll let you know if any problems.
Installed and working great.
