98 Disco P 1314 Misfire
If there is power, but no click, then the ground will be open/loose. If the ground is open, when the relay coil is energized, there will be 12V on the ground wire through the coil. Do you have the ETM manual showing circuit ground details?
Well I gave up trying to fix this myself and took it to the only garage in town that knows anything about this gen LR. It apparently now needs a new (used) ECM, and some wiring harness repairs. I didn't get a chance to talk to the tech after this diagnosis, but he did seem to know what he was talking about when I spoke to him the day I had it towed in. I'll be posting an ad in the classifieds looking for an ECM. My next question is this: Does the ECM need to be programmed to the vehicle?
Any other helpful advice for a frustrated Disco owner?
Cheers

On the continuing saga, I got a used ECU from Will the Roverguy, but unfortunately it was DOA. The unit will not power up. Also, Will has not replied to repeated e-mails and texts about a replacement, so I am getting pretty pissed over this at this point

Thanks Harv. I spoke to Will today and he's sending a replacement ECU. We somehow had a breakdown in communication because he didn't get my earlier e-mails. I'm also having an absolutely crap weekend, so I'm likely a lot grumpier than normal.
