When was it last serviced, how is the level, does the oil look brown or burned?

More than likely your trans is dead, it might be saved if you change the filter in it.
But it sounds like the fluid and filter have never been changed.
Start with a transmission fluid and filter and see what happens.

what a shame with so few miles on it..........

I agree, I would drop that tranmission pan and see what it looks like. Try new fluid and filter and start looking around for a replacement. It's really a shame, because the price of a replacement can exceed the value of the vehicle.

I would look for a deal on used one, I know the local salvage yard usually has a few available here.

Hopefully the rest of the vehicle is nice so you can justify keeping it up. Good Luck, and keep us posted.

THank you guys for all your input!!

Do you think it would be worth just parting int out? It is in great shape just dont have the funds to fix it. I bought it last year and drove it for two months then it started to slip then finaly just gave out. It has been sitting in my driveway for over a year now!

If it's nice I would not tear it apart, someone will want it whole.

Yeah You might get a little more for the individual pieces but when you take into account all the b/s you will go thru, parting it out will be a royal PITA.

There are good used trannies available. Don't give up yet.

3X on the fluid and filter change, as you might just be able to save her. Let us know how it goes

I hate to tell you that I bought a 96 with the same symptoms. Drove it on the trailer in reverse. I changed the filter and fluid to see, but had to drop another tranny in it.

Parting it is a pain, and I hate to see another parted out, but it is the best way to get the most money out of it.

I would price a used tranny before you start parting it out, true you will get more selling each little piece if you got the time and a place to tear it down, but it would be a shame to tear down a nice one when you can pick up a tranny for a few hundred.
