Default ABS Code 28

My Disco 1 has a code 28 for the ABS system.

Code 28 was for a solenoid valve which I am to understand is inside the ABS modulator.

The ABS modulator was cheap (300$) so I threw a new one in. The light went out for a short time but I am now getting the same code.

Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Thanks so much!! I'm toatlly new to Land Rover.

Check your grounds for the abs modulator. That's a good place to start. Other than that, I don't know. Download the RAVE if you havn't done so already. Great resource for all your Land Rover needs.

Is you anti-lock light on? It needs to be reset after changing the part which is done by the dealer or you can us the blink method I've attached and save $100.

If you threw in a used one, chance are it has the same problem, that is why it was so cheap. New ones are around $200 from the dealer, that is why most people save a lot by buying a kit and doing a rebuild.

Thanks for the insight guys!! I installed a new one (300$) not used and I'm getting the same code.

I have discovered that there are ABS relays on the passenger side of the vehicle.

I can not figure out which ones are the one for the ABS. I have Mitchels on Demand and the colors for the relays wiring does not match so I don't know which one to check.

How do I tell which is the ABS relays?

Thanks so much!!

Now in the middle of testing my oil light came on. I dropped the pan and it's full of sludge and the oil sump is clogged. I'm cleaning it out now, think I'll be ok then.

Download the RAVE. It's in there.
