Abs light
"Binnacle, dash card, two fingers"...that was definitely the Readers Digest version! I found the "how to" starting on page 847 of the workshop manual. And yup, remove the "binnacle" first (two screws), then the instrument pod (four screws I believe and some wire plugs), remove the #6 bulb (antilock), reverse procedure. I'll give it a go this weekend...
Final (I hope) comment on the ABS light; I put on new STI 7mm spark plug wires today and drove down to the boat house again and lo and behold - the ABS light went out and stayed out and no check engine light came on either. I had erased the OBD II codes, but did not erase whatever ABS codes had turned on the abs light last time. Maybe she liked the new blue plug wires and healed herself. This may be a driver yet.
Followed the owner's manual, starting on page 847, and removed the ABS light bulb. Pretty simple process, only needed a Phillips screwdriver. Two screws on the binacle, remove the wire plugs on each side of the binacle (make note of which colored plugs go where), four screws on the gauge cluster, lift cluster up and out, remove bulb, cover hole with blue painter's tape (easy to remove), reverse procedure, done. Took about 20 minutes total, and now I shouldn't have that annoying antilock light glaring at me (especially since I removed the main fuse for the antilock system in the engine compartment). Don't care about not having ABS anymore, figure it's less things to go wrong and annoy me.
Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, but can I not read the ABS codes with an OBD2 reader.?
I have a scan gauge, and it read the engine codes but it does not seem to be pulling any codes from the abs. Do I need to use the jumper pin method?

No ABS codes on the OBD. Gotta go old school. Jump pin 5 & 15 on the port and count the blinking lights. Incredibly rudimentary but it is what it is.
Here is a good guide.....
