Question ABS Sensors - repairing?

Hi,

I am sure that this may or may not have been covered. I was unsure about the source of this tip, but I recall reading it somewhere.

I read that more than half of the time the ABS sensors become a little loose or dislodged and require a gentle tapping to get them back into place, which usually make the ABS light on the dash go out.

Does anyone have experience with this type of repair?

I usually pull them out, clean, and tap them back in. Well, I DID do that back when I cared about ABS. Now my modulator and dash light are removed and I don't care.

I have never had the ABS lite on steady but the ABS used to come on whenever it wanted mostly making turns and it sucks truck will not stop, I finally removed the fuse under the hood I may try to fix at a later date and reinstall the screw in fuse

Mine was on all the time, grommets in the master cylinder reservoir were rotted out. I never even noticed till I found a puddle under the master one day leaving work. New grommets, bleed brakes, no light.

Where'd you find the grommets at? It took some serious Sherlock Holmes sh*t on my part to get part numbers for the Audi part #'s for the grommets that are the same Rover uses.

Wink

Would it be these parts below from a 1992 Audi 100 A6/V6?

This is from a thread at Discoweb and an Audi forum

This grommet is closest to the Discovery front of vehicle

Audi OEM part number: 4A0-611-817-A / 4A0611817A

This grommet is closest to the Discovery firewall

Audi OEM part number: 893-611-817-B / 893611817B

Question for the above scenario.

Could the "rotted" grommets allow air into the system, or create air pockets with the leaking which would lead to ABS issues?
