Paul I will say one thing, after I adjusted mine by that sticky my seals almost imediatly started to weep/leak

But it did fix my steering wobble shake issues

Other then the abs sensor and reluctor cog, chrome/ Teflon coating, gear oil/ one shot what's the difference in the swivels that would be cause for 2 different procedures? Not trying to be a wise *** just wondering cause it would not be the first time I saw a procedure changed to sell a tool or try to get someone to come in instead of DIY

If there's a legit reason I want to be sure I am doing mine correctly

Tom, if you set your preload to 15 lbs WITHOUT the swivel seal in, then installed the seal, that is far too much preload. I figured that out just by playing around with different shims and seeing what increased turning resistance. Also, I believe the RAVE says the swivel seal needs to be oiled/lubed prior to installation. I noticed that if I installed it dry and turned the swivel, it easily rolled the lip.

Im hoping AntiChrist will chime in here with the magic number. Again, I believe the fish scale method can be used, but the 15 lb number will not apply. Someone (perhaps that will end up being me) needs to use the torque adapter to set preload and then find out what that equates to on the fish scale and post that figure.

Did mine 15# with the seal in, original seal as all I was doing is adjusting pre load

Think mine was like 5# when I started, the knuckle would flop back and forth with no resistance

Probly a few thousand miles and no issues thus far
