Unhappy AC line blew out. fixed w/pics

Found that my AC system was empty and tried charging it today in the 90 + degree heat. As it was just about full, I heard a big hiss and all the R134a came out from below the coolant reservoir. Must be the reason it was empty to begin with. Going to wait until it gets a bit cooler outside to find what went boom.

If its the crimp on a hose then take the hose off and take it to a hydraulic shop and they can make you a new hose with the old bits. Should be about 35-45$

solid aluminum tube from connector behind coolant tank, under tank to front behind grille. Broke right by the clip holding it to the body.

Ahh, I don't know of any way to repair that. Best to get a used part from Will Tillery or maybe Paul Grant?

Thought I'd give this a try. rated for A\C repair and up to 2400 psi.... if it doesn't work, I will have to take apart the front of the truck and see if there is a connection n the condensor. Just not to sure about removing the rusty brush guard...

I will have to do a bit of re-routing as the break is right in a 90 degree bend. Luckily it is out in the open once the coolant tank is moved

The line does a route behind the shock tower so the bend will be difficult to re-route. I guess i will need to find a replacement pipe, or at least some more tubing I can splice in. anybody got a D1 they are parting out with a line on it??

Ok,the line splice isn't going to work so I came up with another plan....

This should have a good chance of working out. We shall see when it arrives...

Installed the splice hose and it worked good! pulled a vacuum for about an hour and charged up. Blowing cold air now.

This is where the tube broke. right at the edge of the clamp

With the splice installed

Make sure you use a 8 MM splice kit. the 5/16 is close but won't fit.
