Advance Auto Parts Discovery Steering Box
Is a big NADA...
I ordered one.. Supposed to be in today...
Went into the store.. The lady said.." They didn't call you ?" That's been discontinued." I replied. "No one has called me" ...
I ordered it at least ten days ago.. You'd think that if it was discontinued someone would have figured it out before now...
"Well, Bryan, The guy you ordered it from, Was supposed to call you"..
So now they're trying to find me a steering box. There's a guy in Newcastle supposedly who rebuilds them.. But he's not answering his phone this afternoon apparently...
If I had known it wasn't coming in. I wouldn't have taken the old steering box off my Disco last night...
Now I have a Disco that won't move and no new part...
Should I just buy a kit and re-gasket it myself ?

RAVE covers the process of putting new seals in the box for a DII which doesn't look like that bad of a job. There must be one for the DI too. Pulling the arm off looks to be the tough part. Here's a thread with a link to a guide for the box in a Classic: Steering Box Overhaul/Replacement - Land Rover Zone
