after market stereo noise
Put in an after market stereo. It sounds fine with just the key in the ignition but after I start it I get a buzzing sound thats really annoying. I disconnected the ground and the buzzing went away but now it has the altenator whir sound thats a little more tolerable but still not right. Has anyone else had this issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I had the exact same thing happen with my setup!
The solution was this item:
Scosche SLC-4 4-Channel Adjustable Line Output Converter
Now everything good and I am back in business of listening to tunes.

The reason you are getting a whine over your speakers is because of a difference in the quality of your grounding wires. Series one discoveries have two built in factory amps. One by the passenger's feet and one in the tailgate. In case the last suggestion didn't work, a solution would be to put your ground back on, which probably shouldn't have been off in the first place and wire your speakers directly to the amp (if you have one) in your new stereo. To do this you will remove the plastic panel by your passenger's feet, see the factory amp, disconnect the speaker wire from it, get speaker wire from your local stereo shop, and run the new connection behind your glove box. Then you can cut the ground from your factory amp which will solve the problem of difference in grounds. This fix sounds involved and complicated but if you have a schematic of your speaker wires it only takes about 15 minutes.
