Default Agian.... I love my rover.. Spare tire on hood and trip to yellowwood state forest

So I started the day off with nothing to do. I get one day off a week up here in indiana and sundays are pretty boring..

First I threw my spare on the hood. It I been wanting to see what it was like.. I think its a little too wide and this is a 235/70.

after coming home from the store was about to go to sleep. Then I said screw it lets go exploring.

70mile drive to the forest. The terrain started getting really pretty. As always I suck at taking pictures, im using a phone AND the pictures never capture anything!

I found a bit of trails most were easy a few with rocks and mud. Lots of hills, and being from louisiana made me excited!!

i know nothing exciting! If I had a friend I would have taken videos of the stuff i climbed.

She was great. Im really starting to trust her. I ran over huge logs and climbed some very steep stuff. wheels were coming off the ground. I did rub once but it doesn't matter because i have decided Im going down to 235/85 no doubt. tires are for sale now.

Thinking about going with duratracs [but not agressive enough] mt/r or kelly mt

Default I did get ONE video..

the hill was muddy STEEP. I did NOT think I would make it up. I wasn't going to post this because it looks WAYY too easy.. If I knew it was this easy I wouldn't have recorded it. On the way down I tried to make it harder and went down an even steeper drop off and at an angle. After a couple tries I made it, I believe I was high centered and you can see my rear tire coming back to the ground on the way down..

Sorry for all the running around. too layz to edit.

I saw the guard dogs but decided I'll go with mt/r

Put the spare on hood trying to cop that defender and old series land rover look. However they usually use skinnier tires and the hood is not he'd out so the tire sits lower. I still may do it!

No not cutting the hood

I would never put a spare on the hood of my Discovery. I did see one custom rear bumper that had a nice wheel mount in the center with a Jerry Can mounted on each side. Looked very good and practical.

You need to be very careful getting too daring in a strange place, lots of people have sudden wipeouts that way you know. One of my good Rover Buddies was a passenger in a super bad *** SD that was really nice until it suddenly flipped onto the passenger's side and crashed real badly. It went from nice to totalled in matter of a few seconds and they didn't even get it on video. They did manage to get it back onto the wheels and creeped home in it, but it was wiped out.

I have a nice older Sony digital camera, but it is such a pain to transfer the pics to our latest computer that I want a new one. Was looking at the Flip type recorder, they seem pretty good and simple to use and transfer files. My sony has the small CD drive which is great for storage and you can change them out and keep shooting, but the newer Windows doesn't support the USB cable transfer, so I have to finalize the cd in the camera, then place it in the computer and transfer, then put it back in the camera and reformat, so it is a pain to do any quick downloads anymore. Earlier Windows allowed USB transfer.

As far as tires, I wanted the BFG TKO's but could not find them locally in the 235's so I got the Bridgestones when they were on sale. They have held up well and do fine all around.

Nice!

I've always wanted to try the tire on the hood look, I think that is pretty frikin' awesome, gives it an 'old school' look. Don't let the haters get to you (no offense guys)

Looks like you had a fun day exploring, I swear my Disco runs so much better after being taken off road for a few

Did you go with the Goodyear MT/R's? I was looking at those but ended up with the Duratracs, those MT/R's looked bulletproof.
