Air Conditioning Switch

Air Conditioning Switch
I have a 98 Disco and I believe my switch for the A/C on the climate control panel is bad. I removed and replaced it with a switch from a junkyard car, but I believe that switch was bad also. I know the A/C works because my existing switch would turn on the AC (ice cold) with some fiddling up until recently when it stopped working entirely. All fuses are good...
It seems that these switches are not readily available on eBay or elsewhere, however the air recirculate switch, which appears to be identical other than the face plate, is readily available. Does anyone know if I could simply replace the AC switch with a new recirculate switch and if it would work? Then I could possibly take the snowflake cap off my old switch and put it on the new one - or just have two recirculate buttons...as long as the A/C works I don't really care...
I would simply swap the existing air recirculate switch with the A/C switch to test it, but my air recirculate switch doesn't work either...along with half the other switches on this car.

You can take that switch apart like any other switch on the dash. Over time the corrosion builds up and they lose contact. I would also test out the bulbs because taking the dash apart to get to those two switches is a pain. I messed up and didn't test the bulbs and eventually I will need to do it again.

In my (limited) experience, cleaning the switches is a huge pain and I'd rather not do it if I can avoid it.
