replacing the re-circulation switch and the A/C switch
1997 Discovery SD (I purchased it new in 1997)
Hi - I'm looking for the "tips and tricks" to replacing the re-circulation switch and the A/C switch in the A/C control unit (in the dash) - -
Also, where can I get these new switches? Both of mine have failed - I don't plan to spend $500.00 on the new complete assembly.
I ordered both switches new from brit-car.co.uk on advice from slickwilly1976. It only took a little over a week to receive them. I think they were around $15 USD each plus shipping.
You need to pull the entire console to get the switches out. There is a small clip you must release from the rear of the switch. I recently pulled mine to change the small bulbs in the switches.
Thanks for the info - I will try the company in the UK to see about the switches - I have no problem taking apart he dash - I just need to block out the time -
Yes - all four positions on the blower switch work -
Asked because my a/c relay wouldn't energize and I though it was the a/c switch. It was my blower switch. Contact strip in it has to be made for a/c to work.
Most of the switches behind steering wheel didn't work when I got it. I took them apart and cleaned the wee contacts in them. Takes time and a good pair of glasses.
