Default Airbox Mod? The Good The Bad The Ugly?

Hello Good People,
I was looking for a way to get more air into my system with having installed an aux battery in front of the airbox trumpet.

While looking online I came across a few airboxes with these additional holes.
Aside from a possible acoustic change what do you all thing are the good, the bad, and the ugly reality with this mod in the below images?
Is it a possible good thing?
Is it a somewhat good thing thing gone to far?
Is it simple a bad thing from the jump?

Thanks

It would probably help. but if you ran into some deep water, or snow, that could be trouble. But then the water would drain out
kind of like the old school method of flipping the top of the air cleaner over to get more air, it worked, but would mess up the carb jetting ratios.(carburated motors)
