Default Airflow or Air Temp

So I smucked my front bumper on some rocks on my last trip. I took my bumper off to straighten it so I've been driving with out it.

What I noticed is now my truck barely warms up even on long highway drives.

It could be that it's like 30 degrees out side now but could it be more airflow on the radiator.

I do have the heavy fan clutch mod done.
What do you guys think. Could this be a temporary solution if you were overheating in the summer and had to get home?

Just a thought

Barely warming up isn't a good thing. Your thermostat could be stuck open.

X2 on the stat, about $10 and new gasket and you can be sure. I run a 180F stat in my D1, it runs 183 or so on the roadway. It is hard to trust the coolant temp gauge, readings vary widely. Your bump could also have shifted some corrosion on the wire to the sensor and changed the reading. One first step would be remove wire and clean off any crud. It is the one with a single wire near the stat (two mounting bosses stick up). One with square top is ECU temp sensor, which is what drives the OBDII port (if equipped) and tells computer how hot things are. Note from pix that what you think is normal on the gauge is not always so.

It is NOT because the bumper is missing, it is because of the heavy duty fan clutch and a bad thermostat.

you guys were all wrong. It was an airflow difference. I put the bumper back on and it warmed up. I even pulled the therm and it was closed.

180 deg
