Default Alarm Issue? Hit a bump, doors unlock, lights flash...!!??

Last week, it happend to my wife. When I got, home I checked it and nothing was worng. Just today, I drove out of town and hit some rough spots on the freeway. The doors unlock and the flashers go off. I can hear a relay clicking from under the glove box.

No wonder everyone behind me slowed down...

So, I pulled off of the freeway. Coasted in neutral, turned it off and restarted, everyting back to normal.

Heading back home, same issue, hit a bump....turned off the freeway and restarted. From there, no bumps and no faults.

I did some research and found SH*T that I wish I never read. And I know I am having issues with the grounding with my rear door...I'm F**KED..

At this point, I am leaning toward a loose wire or my Alarm is jacked. The only think I did recently in that area was replace the window ECU with one from a '97, whcih works perfectly. That cant be the cause....nah....

Gong to try to mimic the under the same conditions tomorrow. Start the truck and see if I can cause the same problem.....

Start with inertia switch, it can cause the unlocking. But normally would kill other stuff as well.

from your friend the RAVE (Rovers A'int Very Economical) -

An inertia switch is incorporated in the Theft Alarm
Unit (Z163). If ignition is on and the vehicle receives
an impact sufficient to activate the inertia switch, the
unit will signal to unlock central locking actuators and
flash hazard lights. Central locking will remain
disabled for a period of 0 to 5 minutes. To reset, turn
ignition off and then on after the time period has
elapsed.

I quick reviewed the RAVE to test the switch and found nothing. But did find what Buzz provided.

So, I looked at the switch itself and noticed the cover not securely in place. I secured the cover, then started the engine. It's in neutral, hand brake down, doors closed (windows open), hood switch down. Got out my rubber mallet to mimic the sharp jolts. I tapped heavily directly around the switch and the engine turned off. Is it that sensative?

For the heck of it, I looked over the harness around the window ECU. Everything looks in place and order.

It just came to mind. The last time this happend, it rained the day before. Could there be water in the switch? I'll remove it tomorrow and see if anything comes out. In the mean time, going to get an another one.

Well, rain and a D1 ECU have quite an attraction, many have weather proofed the ECU a little more. The goal of the inertia switch is to kill fuel (reduce fire) and unlock vehicle (allow rapid rescue of kids strapped in back seat - parents in front might be dead or pinned). Hopefully this is not needed too often anywhere. Discos are pretty sturdy.

Dude....that white pickup...that is my other truck....lol. Should I try hitting the Disco with my Ram to test it out?...lol

Okay, let me add that to the list, seal ECU and Inertia switch. I've been using dielectric on connectors when i working with them, so at least i am heading in the right direction.

THANKS!
