Default Another lift question

I've done a lot of searching etc and would like to know exactly what I would need for a 4 inch lift, and or a 6 inch lift...

I'm toying with the idea of 4 inch suspension, 2 inch body... All this is basically an attempt to give myself clearance for the om617 oil pan that I'm putting int he truck. The video etc of the guy from jersey seems to have a 6 inch lift and his om617 dropped in without so much an issue.

What exactly was that kit designed for? But, yes, that might be of help also. Course, I can just cut my own oil pan also.. What I'm worried about is the front sump.

Right from their site as well....

"Most 4-wheel drive vehicles will require a suspension lift for additional OM617 engine clearance due to factory oil pan design."

I think it might be cheaper and faster to just do the lift instead of dicking with all the engine mods I've seen others have to do...

I guess, technically, I could say I put an om617 into my rover already....

You can see the current (stock?) lift in these pictures. Notice the rear... This is with 900 pounds of engine sitting on it....

mine was worn. i put a 2 inch lift and an extra inch on the tires and it feels high. thats 3 on top of whatever i had in sag so it feels like 5 or 6 from where it was.

it's surely not monster truck high but still. yours holds 900lbs pretty well.

A body lift isnt going to help you clear an engine.. The engine rests on the frame. Start with a RTE 3" lift and add a spacer if you need to. Jarek made his own custom engine mounts. You will need to as well. I would try to space it up as much as you can after you get it attached to the bell hosuing.

The one thing Jarek didn't show was if he used the mounts from a 300D or an 300SD, they are totally different. I think I have both laying around. The way he cut off the stock mounts on the truck and flipped them over was simple.

As to the body lift, my thought on that was it should give me the ability to mount the engine higher on the frame, and still clear the hood and valve cover.

Considering the shocks in the truck are totally shot... The springs are obviously in good shape...

Yea dont do a 2" body lift do the 1.25" lucky 8 sells - 2" you have to weld an extension onto your steering arm and your bumpers will look stupid. I think you will have plenty of clearance if you do it right. Plus you dont want to space it up too much..

You could also have a custom fiberglass hood made. I was talking about this with one of my buddies.
