In my opinion this one gets more traffic and has a better group of people and most have good attitudes towards the trucks and other forum members.
There are exceptions to the rule of course.

Old style push rod engine, high volume low pressure oil pump, loose clearances in these engines, read your owners manual, it will even spec a 20w-60 motor oil for hot climates.
These trucks were sold all over the world, there were built to take tons of abuse and like it.
The engine is ALL aluminum, that means block and heads, lots of heat is dissipated and using the wrong oil will kill the engine pretty quick.
If you were to take it to the dealer for a oil change, 10w-40 is what they will use.
Using a 5w-30 will more than likely result in engine noises once warmed up, if you use RP you can probably get away with the 5w-30, but you still need to change it every 5,000 miles, and at what? $12 per quart and it takes 7 quarts...I'm not made of money, if I was I would not be driving a 208k mile Disco.
Buy the Rotella at Wal-Mart, buy 2 1 gal jugs, that will cost you about $25, then go to NAPA and buy a oil filter, thats $6.
Watch out for the BOGO sale at NAPA and stock up on oil filters.
DO NOT use a cone style or K&N air filter on your truck, you will not get better MPG, or more horse power but you will be buying a $1500 MAF for your truck.

Did these Disco's come with a limited slip axle difs? I read as much I could and it seems they have 3.54 gears is that correct?


what about paint oxidation?

No on the limited slip.
The center diff is locking with the lever in the cabin, check the tech section for a quick video on how to use it.

As for your over heat cargo thingy things, I have no idea where to get new ones.

As for the paint, cant help you there other than Macco or Earl Shibe.

I dont know the final drive gear ratio.

You MUST use premium gas.

Great, yeah we only use premium (93) on all our cars. They all require it.LOL

Why does it have snow tires?
I run 40psi on all corners with my snow tires and 35psi with my summer tires.

The PO had it at his Colorado house and after all the work was done he expected to take it back up so he fitted it with snowys. Should I get different ones? I am open to any suggestions.

I have been using the 26psi fron and 36 rear as the door jamb says. I figure you guys can throw in some advice for doing it differently. Do snow tires require more psi? I am in Dallas just rain here sometimes and ice occasionally.

Snow tires will wear out QUICK, I have those same tires on my truck, Firestone Winterforce, I just got mine, they are used but I got them for a even trade and I put them on my second set of rims.
They came on the truck, use them. It seems like a waste to me but hey, what the hell, you got them might as well use them up.
Snow tires are made of softer rubber so they stay playable and stick to the road and snow in the cold.
Around here we can run snow tires all year because we only get like 2wks of warm weather.
