while sitting at a light engine hesatated then after a couple minutes ran smooth but the check engine light came on.

 

Well, go get the codes read"TODAY" at your local parts store and get back to us with the fault code numbers so we might be able to help you.

 

OK but where is plug for reader? also is there a way to get rid of light

 

1. Get codes read at local auto store. They will know where the plug is. But FYI it is under the driver's side dash.
2. Fix whatever the problem is. Then worry about the light. If all you do is shut off the light then the truck will continue to have problems and if you want to clear it for inspection purposes don't waste your time. The computer will still store the code even if the light is off. You need a scanner tool to clear the codes.

 

Depend, what year is it? Could be a OBD1 or OBD2.

 

True I mistakenly assumed it was OBDII.
