Thanks for the reply. That makes sense.

Exhaust gas and coolant mix in small block cracks behind the liners. Pinning the liners will not prevent this. Top hat or flanged liners will.

I'm hoping liners are in place. I have symptoms of a slipped one. I haven't planned on pinning them. The DIY pinning job just looks too scary to me.

What symptoms? A liner can only slip upward and only a small amount. The blocks are flanged at the bottom to prevent downward slip. I doubt liner movement is your issue.

Oops, I meant to say that I do NOT have liner symptoms.

Also, I have read on other forums that Buick 215 cam bearings work on most likely any RV8 rebuild, and were used for a rebuild of a Bosch 4.6 block in said forum. It makes sense because I've never heard of any changes to the block over the years that would necessitate the cam journal holes to be altered. Therefore, I ordered a set of Durabond B-11 bearings from Amazon (the ones used in that rebuild). My only concern is the picture on Amazon shows them with a oval shaped oil port, whereas the 'rover' ones are round. It could just be a stock picture, but it concerned me a bit. Anyone here with any experience with these bearings?

Say, I never did get an answer if any other block, like a Buick/Pontiac/Olds matched the Land Rover's, or did they change the bellhousing configuration?

they should be a BOP spacing,
but i need someone to measure a spare block or tranny for spacing.
there was no reason to change it until they started using jag motors.

So then why aren't guy just swapping in Buick or Olds motors? Seems to me would be a lot easier. You can build them up..

I've always wondered that, a 455 isn't any bigger dimensionally than a BOP 350... figured to see a ****, nay a METRIC **** ton of 455 Rovers if the BOP thing were true.
