Default Any helps out there to replace head gaskets

I'm looking at possibly buying a 99 Disco that has a bad head gasket. I got some good feedback here as to what a fair price would be etc. But the question I have now is this: Are there any service manuals, how to threads etc that will walk me through the head gasket replacement process? Tourqe specs, do and don't, process things like this?
It sounds like this is a big issue with these so I'm guessing there should be something like this out there.
Thanks all

There is the Rave manual which you will find in a lot of peoples signatures on here. It has medium-high detail for most procedures. I know it has like a 30some step process removing the head gaskets. Some companies also provide directions with their gasket kits. This website here: OTTO will have a write up soon enough on how to do this process. Not sure if it will be for a D1 or D2 though. I'd look around, I'm sure you will stumble upon something. Shops charge like $1000+ for this though. I would find a mechanically inclined friend and have him help you.

Are you looking at a DI or a DII?
Both were sold in the US in that model year.

Default It's a DI

The Rover I'm looking at is a DI. Where is the best place to get a head gasket kit? Is there a best gasket out there?
Thanks,

You need to back up a few steps. First, what are you paying for it and how do you know it is a head gasket issue, not a dropped sleeve and or cracked head?

Default I'm really not sure of the issue

I'm really not sure it's a head gasket, I'm just going off what the seller is saying. The Rover is a 99 DI with 160K miles, I'm looking to give the seller $300 and a shotgun. I'll ask the seller how he knows its a head gasket not one of the other issues. Anything else I should ask or watch out for?
Thanks,

Look in the tech section to see what to look for when buying.
What kind of shotgun are you trading?

Well at least the cash portion is reasonable, I don't know much about the shotgun's value but I would consider it a good deal for both of you. Just take your time and work your way thru it good.
