Are these RPMs normal?

Like the other guy said not high just louder than a lot of vehicles. I'd say most vechiles run around the 2500 marker at 65MPH.

with that said 4.11's wouldnt be THAT bad at 65 but it would be reving higher than stock. On the flip side tons of lo range on the trails.

What are the stock gears, 3.55ish?

When I was trail riding near Ligioner PA, I found myself having to ride the brakes a lot when descending even in low range first gear (automatic) . I would have liked it to be able to creep slower. Mine is completely stock with 235/70's on it. That underdrive would be sweet in those applications.

I had a Dodge One Ton Maxi Van with a 360 with 410 positraction rear end from factory. I bought it used from a guy who used it to haul coffee for one of those industrial coffeee machine companies. It had lots of space, but at 70 mph it was screaming. We used to enjoy it in the muddy backroads in central Georgia, then I got my RamCharger.

Slang, I was in PepBoys yesterday to get my Mann Oil Filter and Rotella Triple T 15W40. I looked at those tires you spoke of. They look great, but i would be hesitant to buy the MT's for a sandy beach area due to the experiences I had with Mud Tires being GraveDiggers.

On sand, I would be concerned that the MT's would basically throw the sand out of the way and bottom you out on the frame pretty quickly compared to the flotation affect of AT's.

The short distance you drive being in your Island environment, a set of tires should last you long time. That is why I encourage you to look and make the best choice.

I changed my oil yesterday and went for a short ride last night. It seems to run even better, but that P1316 is still popping up. Going to try capping off that Charcoal cannister vacumn line next. Mine looks original and those clamps do not look that good.

Danny Lee, I disagree slightly. An aggressive tread pattern will hurt you some but not much. Airing down and using proper driving technique are bigger factors than tread pattern on sand IMO. A/Ts are probably ideal, but if they are going to cost him more than the Definitys I'd see that as a non-starter.

Did you see my video? The whole club was on M/Ts, except for the few who were on rockers and we had no trouble at all with the dunes. Drove around for 5-6 hours, followed the sand tracks around the whole perimeter and even drove along the ridge of some of the larger dunes with no issues. Well except the occasional field repairs: fixing a clogged fuel line on a ******, cooling an overheated Rover, etc. Not one recovery required though.

Default doesn't matter because..........

they're perfect for me. yeah an all terrain would have been smarter for a bunch of reasons but this isn't supposed to be a smart car. it's my truck and i love her.

$680 installed with warranty, tax, etc. couldn't get any of my preferences under $1100.

seems i'll be needing some money to do my bearings now as we identified that...but we'll get to that and a few other bits later.

i didn't get an alignment cause i need to do the bearings. do you guys all do one when you change the tires. i did one like 8 months ago when i fixed up the suspension and steering.
