auto to manual conversion in a '96 D1?
I really want a 5 speed disco 1. I've found a very low mileage example but it's an auto.
Is there a part list somewhere of everything required to swap to a manual transmission? Anyone got an idea of ball park cost? I can do the work myself, I just need to know what parts would need to be assembled and what they are worth.
Thanks in advance.

I can't have another truck round the place getting scrapped. If I do this I need to get the parts together and blitz the job in a weekend.
Does anyone know if there are any differences in the R380 from 94-99? Any reason why a 5 speed from a 94 wont fit in a 99?
Anyone got a list of all the parts needed?
Is there a company in North America that breaks these things that I could contact for the parts?
Searching the web but not much luck.

All the R380's for a V8 will work. There were incremental internal improvements over the years. Ashcroft's web site lists the major ones.
I don't have a list of all the parts needed, but the main thing is gearbox, cross member, clutch, flywheel (not sure if the flywheel housing is different), clutch slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, clutch hoses, brake pedal, clutch pedal. I'm sure some other parts I'm forgetting.

Andyt11 -
I'm about to start parting out a 95 Disco with 5 speed manual - 130,000 miles, drive train in good working order - I'm only keeping the engine - email me at LimeyV8@aol.com - (apparently i haven't been on this forum long enough to send a PM)
The fact that you're in central Canada and I'm in Concord, NC could be a problem, but I have everything you need - RealCheap, RightNow
Cheers,
Jack Mc

Ok, so Jack has everything I need but we both have a question.
1 - Does the ECU on the 99 auto truck get readings from the auto transmission?
2 - If so, what will happen when I put a manual gearbox from a 95 in the 99?
3 - Will the 99's ECU get confused, and what would I do to fix the situation?
