Axles, gears, lockers and more!
Well this weekend has been a big one for the Rover. Through a couple of parts trucks I acquired a Detroit and a TrueTrac, axles and gears. Along with the gears I installed RoverTracks front axles and CVs and Ashcroft rear axles. I also picked up some Fox 2.0 12" remote reservoirs valved in 90/100. I modified my RTE upper mounts to gain an extra inch. Starting Thursday I pulled my rear diff. Friday I rebuilt them with the help of a buddy with Ashcroft 4.12s and all new Timken bearings. Saturday I replaced all the wheel bearings and buttoned up the rear and pulled the front apart. Today I finished up the front and threw on an RTE weld on diff guard. All of this other than the diff rebuild was done in off and on again rain under a pop up tent with a tarp in the yard. Needless to say I am worn out but thrilled with the results. Never thought I'd have the Disco where it is now!

I can't wait to take it wheeling! The Fox shocks really improve on road handling and the 4.12s give it some pep (as much as you can expect from a underpowered 5500lb box). While I was under there I ordered all new 3/8x24 Grade 8 Nylock nuts for the diffs and drive shafts. I also replaced the OEM Grade 8.8 flange head diff flange bolts with Grade 10.9s. Also chased all the drive flange holes with a tap and installed Grade 12.9 socket head cap screws with the TF HD drive flanges all the way around. Should be able to have some serious fun and not worry about exploding stuff. I am also very pleased with the weld on RTE diff guard. It is a very solid piece and adds lots of protection.

Next on the list is to replace my half *** working and leaky sunroofs, wire up a LED rear work light and mount and wire LED rock lights under the truck. Also going to run wiring for a future 21.5" LED light bar on the front bumper. I swear this **** never ends! I was warned when I started and boy were those people right!
