'04 DII - Ready for lockers and gears
I have decided that I want to get finally get lockers and gears for my DII. I am 99% sold on a TT in the front and the detroit in the rear. From what I have read it sounds like it might be cheaper to buy them fully built (including the HD axles). Does anyone have a prefferred builder or dealer to get the parts?
Thanks

What State are you in, what sort of wheeling are you planning on doing? This can make a big difference in what sort of a set up you may want/need?
By the way, I run a T.T. and a Detroit with 4:11's and really like them.

I am in AZ...I like to run 3's and 4's probably will never do a 5 but would like to have the option. The majority of trails that I run require at least a locker in the rear and a good amount of drivers skill.
I talked to Brian at Great Basin (i have a call into Lucky as well)- He suggested replacing the following parts along with the installation of TT in the Front and Detroit in the rear + 4.11 gears:
HD Axles
Double Carbon U Joint (replace the rotoflex drive line).
I had heard of replacing the axles before but not the drive line...Is this a must do?
Thanks,
stuart

Carrying an extra rotoflex isn't a bad option, but at around 3" of lift or more you should really consider changing to a double cardon. Once the geometry of everything gets pushed out that far the double cardon handles it a lot better.
