back door alignment. why's this look so off?
My 1996 has a broken rear door release. I'm betting its due to the alignment. I tried to adjust the strikers but I can't move it that much. Suggestions?
Thanks for the input. It looks like the door is higher than the striker so the door needs to sag lower if anything correct?

Whoops sorry i was looking at that backwards I thought the door was sagging. Im sorry I dont know what would be wrong to make the door higher then the striker unless something is stuck in the door jam?
Last time I checked, gravity still worked in a downward direction, towards the center of the earth that is. Nothing sags upwards as far as I understand the sagging principle.
It would seem that possibly someone attempted to adjust to compensate for sagging or there is possibly some damage or a physical interferece issue. Or maybe they were offroading and bent something upward. Is one side twisted or riding lower than the other?
Stand back and take a good look. Make some measurements. Look for some unusual mounting or damage.

If one of the hinges is loose, I could see the door pivoting on the other hinge, possibly causing this issue. So instead of "sagging up" the door is sagging away, and the guide is pointed up now. Maybe.
I will take some measurements on the truck. It appears to be a street only queen but maybe someone went curb jumping.
I'm not offended by the humor. I obviously asked for some dry wit when I mentioned sagging upwards. Maybe silicon or botox could fix that. I digress....

There is the possibility that the door was open and was struck from below, or that it was closed on something blocking it at the bottom. Sometimes the old body shop guys would pull hinges back into sorta alignment by placing a 2X4 or similar in the hinge side of the door and closing against it. Just a thought.
