A very shoddy job at fixing the rust without replacing the entire section. To break up the monotony of fixing the drivers seat area

could it be the anti sway bar - maybe bushings or link joints are shot.
"if its not leaking its out of fluid" haha
I have removed the center bezel for radio and HVAC - very brittle plastic at this age and assembled by magic. After that experience I would try as hard as I can to avoid removing the whole dash

Do you by chance know how to remove the dash this has to be the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in a vehicle idk why it’s not coming off now 😂

By the way, there is a kit available from Terra Firma to change the position of the steering damper from the track rod (lower, behind axle) to the drag link (higher, in front of axle, dragged around by the power steering arm). Helpful to avoid damage to the damper by big rocks.

Any tips or known tutorials on the dash removal? I can’t find a good one and am afraid I’m gonna break something. The center console is absolutely toast after my removal 😂

Sorry for the dash struggles. I find it helps me to imagine how it was assembled initially. A key is to use the correct direction whilst removing clips and such. Unfortunately, the correct direction is often hidden from view until after it has been broken out, then it's like "oops". I have used quite a lot of plastic repair epoxy to put broken pieces back together, sometimes imbedding reinforcing mesh..., wonderful invention.

I have the center console out, not sure what needs to come out next. All the visible bolts holding the dash in seem to be out. So I am not sure at what stage I am at now

didnt see your post till now - no dont know how to remove dash - but I see you were able to do it. Def one of the hardest jobs on a vehicle. Hopefully not too much breakage.

Thanks for the photos! Noticed the rearview mirror is on its way out. There's an online company (Radar-Mirror) that will fix that for not too much. I tried getting a replacement from a junkyard, but it did not last very long, the OEM mirrors don't like the heat. The gel will drip out if it goes too far, not easy to clean up.

Well, I did destroy a few small pieces. Good news is that the AC still worked after a re-wire, and it blew ice cold. For how long once it’s all said and done? Who knows. But alas, I’m having fun and feeling inspired again.

Does your Ignition light get very hot? Worried to leave mine plugged in. Seems to get immediately very hot and after all this work of it were the cause of the vehicle to catch fire I’d actually lose my mind.
