Default battery issue

Hello,

I have a 96 Discovery that had the battery run down due to infrequent use. Upon connecting the new battery, the alarm began beeping. I tried inserting the key into the drivers side door and locking/unlocking the door, but the alarm is still beeping. I have the key fob (I had to replace the battery on that), but it doesn't turn off the alarm.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can connect the battery and keep the alarm from going off, and starting the car???

Thanks in advance

Holding down alarm hood switch? When you connected the new battery, truck woke up, recalled that it was supposed to have alarm on, and whoa, somebody has the hood open trying to steal the dipstick.

You may have to arm/disarm or lock/unlock several times in a row. And there is the EKA sequence (1515) that works for some models.

Or lock and unlock the drivers door 3 times in a row to reset the alarm.

All door and hood must be closed when you try to disarm the alarm.
