Better Gas Mileage.
well we're here when you do decide to tell. and as for the ampeg cab, one of the best stage rigs, I had the more rare 4x10 and 1x15 full stack and it was a beast, unfortunatly it was too big for what I was doing. Now I have a gallien-krueger 2x10 combo, It is acctually better quality sound and just as loud, believe it or not. but you can still get a good groul at lower volumes which is what I was after. Music and Cars Rock!!!!
What I had really wanted was the orange obc 410 and 115. Not so much to stack. But these 810s are my favorite. There just huge!
It barely fit in the back of the rover. But it was 300$ I can easily make a few bucks off of it.

300$ that's really cheap. for that kind of money I'd buy a second one to be louder!
When I was shopping for an amp I really wanted the Orange full stack but no shop had it stock so I wasn't able to try it and it cost 2k$ more than my Ampeg full stack.
I owned a Peavey Marrk VIII which was awfully loud. Then I switched to an Ashdown, then a SWR then my Ampeg. I really wanted the full tube amp warmth, especially with my Rickenbacker.

Having owned the ad200b it is overpriced in America. I got mine for 1250 though.
But I had to have it love anything European. BEEN wanting to get some ashdown just never did.
The sound of the ad200 was different than the svt. And I preferes the Ampeg. The orange broke up way too early a 4x10 was not enough. And the tone ***** seemed todo NOTHING.
It also didn't have a d.I.
With the terror bass I'm really liking it. It seems voiced dark compared to Gk. To get my flea tone with the 810
And terror I gotta boost the treble to 3:00 mids and bass to 9:00
And add a litte treble from my stingray. But I love it. For everything else flat sounds great.

the thing with the ampeg cabs are the classic style ones aren't rated for very much wattage, like 150 if I recall, good for an old tube head. Thats why my gallien-krueger is just as loud and has much better punch, it is 320w going to 2x10s. and has a seperate amp for the horn tweeter so you can overdrive the subs a little an have crystal clear highs.
If I remember well you can drive basically anything through an Ampeg 8X10 even the classic series. It's rated at 800W RMS in mono 4 ohm.
If you go with Ashdown I highly recommend the top of the line amp head. I had a cheaper model and I didn't like it. Foo fighter's bass player is equipped with Ashdown. When I went shopping I also tried some guitar amps to get the all tube feeling. The Peavey Triple X was a very good amp even for bass, just lacked power for small bar gigs. My bandmates were friggin loud.
And yes Orange are way overpriced un America. I paid 3000$ for my Ampeg full stack (actually more than I paid for my Disco) and it was brand new, I took the SVT out of its original box! I used the Boss GB-7 EQ and a BBS maximizer. I used to play hard rock/metal, I needed power and speakers! I would say that the only downpoint of the SVT is that you have to change the tubes at least once a year if you play at least once a week and you take good care of it. It as possible that you learn the hard way to use the standby switch.
Isn't the bass terror a class A amp? That explains the very low watt but lots of sound.

Don't really understand amp classifications other than tube/solid state
The terror is 500w and its loud but anything is loud through a 8x10. One thing I'm liking about it. It seems to keep the lows smooth but the highs overdriven when UP in the gain. I hate most dirty bass tones but this ones kinda nice.

However I'm not sure if I will be keeping this cab. It BARELY FITS IN THE DISCO AND THE front passenger has no leg room. I don't know. If I start playing shows 3-4 times a month I'm going to probably want something smaller. I also wish I was in a band at the moment so I'd have a place to leave it as it's a tad big for a practice amp.
What's gonna suck is when I find a band the first few months I'm going to take my gear home with me (trust) that's going to be pain. Maybe I'll just leave it at my church.
