Bolts or Studs???
I'm installing my new exhaust and of course one of the 3 studs for the down pipe to CAT broke off in the flange. I've drilled everything out & I'm ready to rethread tomorrow moring. FYI...I was able to back out all other studs for full replacement with new studs.
My question is, before has anyone just used a regular thru bolt instead of the stud(s) in this location??
Meaning...Before I re-Thread the hole--as anyone drilled out all of the threads and just placed 1/4" thru bolt right in there?
And...Would a bolt be better for avoiding this possible breakage in the future?

I just did mine last nite, broke 2 studs and couldnt get them out tried drilling them out and ended up messing the flange up so I have 1 stud and 2 5/16 stainless steel bolts with lock nuts holding it together. It sealed up fine I just had to retighten them up once they went threw a heat cycle.
